In 2004 Rachel van Meeuwen started a church band based on the following vision: To grow in both numbers and quality. This band would eventually be given the name Break Free Worship. Initially, the band was made up of guitarists and vocals only. Bit by bit Rachel raised the bar and the band started to expand. A desire for deeper worship was born. The band members invested in their talents and equipment.
Through the years, sound and multimedia engineers and a manager were added to the band. In June of 2017 Break Free Worship won ‘De beste kerkband van Nederland’ contest (Holland’s Best Church Band), organized by the EO, a Christian broadcasting network. This made the band’s dream to reach Holland with a new sound in worship come true. Invitations started flooding in and new opportunities arose.
Since the beginning of 2018 Break Free Worship has been partnering with Bonfire, a Christian venue located in Dordrecht. Bonfire is now the band’s home base. Almost every last Sunday of the month, Break Free Worship plays at the so-called Bonfire Nights.
Break Free Worship has released two singles; ‘Handen naar de Hemel’ and ‘Als ik mij uitstrek’, which you can find on our website, or listen on Spotify. In addition, the band leads worship at events, conferences and during church services at request.
Break Free Worship expreses his versatility in different events, where people get equipped by the Holy Spirit, and focuses on pure worship.
Break Free Worship has worshipped in collaboration with other known bands and pastors in January 2019 at the nationwide Worship Marathon and in May 2019 at the international conference Europe Arise at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht.
At the beginning of the year 2020 Break Free Worship expects to release a brand new album. The name of the album will remain a surprise. The new, spherical sound and our Dutch lyrics will be characteristic for this album.
